A Piece of Joy
Last week, here in London, the grey clouds finally rolled away
and summer breezed in.
I stared into the bluest sky and let my imagination run free;
took a bite of the sun — all sticky and sweet —
and made candyfloss out of those white condensation trails formed by aeroplanes flying by.
For a few moments I forgot about my heartaches and the state of the world.
