Addicted to sadness

In your eyes, I see a certain kind of sadness,
in my eyes, you see I’m already out of faith in us
yet we can barely look away, still searching for the words we won’t say,
wondering how we ended up this way

we’ve got that you let go, no you let go — kind of sad love

we might just have to face that we’re addicted to us

stuck in the middle, with all our broken hopes and messed up dreams,
we’re a nightmare, a painted picture of a scream
we feel so alone when we’re together, knowing that it never will get better,
yet, you tell me that you love me still, and I tell you that I always will
guess we can’t just unlove and be strangers again, nor ex lovers or even just friends

we’ve got that you let go, no you let go — kind of sad love

we might just have to face that we’re addicted to us

maybe death will unbind us, or just tether us together again like Romeo and Juliet
such a tragedy, reduced to this nothing when we used to have something,
I don’t want to live this way, losing ourselves in this twisted, sunken place
we can’t live on good memories in this empty space,
show me how to bring tomorrow right here today,
I just want to be home alone, with me without you, I know you feel that type of way too

But…

we’ve got that you let go, no you let go — kind of sad love

we might just have to face that we’re addicted to us
