Poetry

he said: ‘I thought you were cool’
she said: I am not your ‘cool girl’, I am the Sun
forward I crawl, walk — run
I am free being me, an African dream
my soul is the Ocean, beneath flesh, breath and bone deep
I am not your cool girl, I am the Sun
more than a woman, a vision of freedom
