Every Now and Then

A prose poem

Every now and then, someone with an extraordinary gift comes along to shift the world and — from afar — move you in a way you can’t explain. And when their light finally goes out and you feel strangely disorientated while this mad world carries on, you think about how ephemeral a lifetime can seem. As ephemeral as the setting sun scattering beams of multi-coloured light while it sinks beneath the horizon — serenading you like the song that plays you out for your last dance.
