For Love. For Mercy. For Paradise.

we are beloved

words dance through our air and we breathe in so deeply the pieces of us

every exhale is an understated — yet powerful request for mercy, to be untethered from the chaotic, the destructive distractions — the unnecessary

somewhere, between the ink and the page, a paradise we witness as freedom — sets us free

ancestors open their arms and welcome you home as you leave our today, but — you are a lighthouse, holding us up with your gaze, and in return — we light up your name and you remain to keep lighting a way

we are left challenged to fly, be limitless — stay free, remember whose shoulders we stand on, spread others wings as they battle through life and its controversies

we can choose to live well, be useful in the disruption of an oppressive narrative that seeks our demise, but will ultimately only succeed in swallowing its tongue and eating itself alive

let go of everything and hold onto love, this is truly — the only measure of us

we are the Ocean, wild waves, we are Poetry

we are stardust, star people, we are the alchemy

Authors note: For mum — Happy Birthday. For Toni Morrison — Thank you. For us — the Dearly Beloved. 🖤
