Hey there, I’m a Black woman born and raised in London. This is the type of ‘street life’ I grew up in — and yeah, ‘misogynoir’ is a thing, basically it’s that same bullshit existing over here that women are forced to navigate this potential of physical or emotional violence. The shift from this won’t really occur until boys are routinely spoken to about it as well as girls, so that as they become men, they are continuing to have these conversations with each other and call out ‘rape culture’ behaviour. The patriarchy is a global menace to society, it’s about time they owned their shit.
