Hmm, Ev Williams I really do appreciate your attempt at explaining the clapping system… it has left myself and many a Writer here quite frustrated thus far… particularly with the ongoing issue of not all our claps registering. Very interesting, that you say Medium pays Writer’s the same regardless of people clapping at all…🤔… can’t say that has been my experience. For example, one of my stories published in August — was read over three hundred times (viewed over 700)but had only 17 people clap for It and has earned $2 thus far. Another story published in September, has 30 reads and 40 views with 24 people clapping — and has also earned the same $2…🤔 why???

I like Medium as a platform, I appreciate the opportunity to be paid for my writing — but I can’t help feeling, I’m being short changed here and there. Is there any consideration about incorporating a pay per read system alongside a review of the current clapping system? Something a little more transparent and straightforward perhaps, that doesn’t lend itself to confusion and frustration.
