Hmm, it’s interesting…I guess it leans a lot into the whole patriarchy/misogyny ‘tradition’ shit heap. I was happy for my boys to take their fathers surname even though we never married, I considered changing mine to align with my children more than anything else…and honestly — I prefer their surname (Cole) *shrugs shoulders*. However, if I could be asked to go through all the hoohah of it, I would choose my mothers maiden name because it feels like home for me. Names are both personal/political, kinda weighty stuff.
