Hmm, this is happening with my stats too… and has happened a few times before. Same reasoning given by Your Friends @ Medium when I emailed them on the previous occasion. It is frustrating and I hate to complain about a platform that I believe is the best one for writers and readers alike. However, I think the more it occurs, the more distrust it creates. The fact is, we are already at the mercy of the Medium accounting team — because who the fuck can ACTUALLY tell if we are being short changed and by precisely how much?
Currently, no two member claps are equal. It not only depends on the amount of claps, but where in the world the member is clapping from… for example, if a US member claps the same amount as a UK member… tax, conversion rates and whatever other variables are applied in calculating the payment.
I like the premise of readers and writers supporting writers to earn for the work they do, I hate the fact that this ‘glitch’ prevents that from always being applied. I hope Medium Staff take onboard our concerns and make the process a little more transparent.
All the best to you Medium fam 🌻
