If you fall for me

Poetry

the sky may give a hearty sigh, as you watch and wait for the stars to fall, whilst you’re all ablaze with lovers light, you might hold your breath throughout the nights, as we become the poem and I write these lines, you might find yourself on a bookshelf in a bookstore of mine, be warned — I might be difficult to read, exhale, remember to breathe

we’ll put the fool into foolish with rainbows and butterflies, listen as songbirds stop singing, salt water may rush from our eyes, we’ll quench our thirst on glasses full of sin and heartbreak, spill drunken confessions of our dreamers disease as the music fades and dies

if you fall for me, you will be my muse, I will dress you up in my words as you undress me with your brown eyes

I’m telling you from the start, ask your heart if you are ready to be spilled ink? written into my history, a chapter in the tale of a sweet fantasy, the detailed formula, the alchemy — that transforms chemistry into plot twists

you might drown before the morning comes, I am the sea, Africa made me from Black wave after Black wave, if we begin, you may never be seen again, but forever be read upon an ink stained page

day after day you may feel brand new hearing the nuances in the sound of my voice saying your name, we make new words for love out of our flames, if you fall for me — we will count all the ways
