Pieces of Her/Me
Her eyes are a map of the stars,
they’re a map of the stars
she’s soul deep, so deep, an Ocean full of light
and soft pieces of heart
everyday she’s swept away by the storms across the sky
quicker than a rocket made of multicoloured light
her feet don’t touch the ground
trying to get home before the sun goes down
captivated by just how close she is now
to where ‘it’ all began
she thinks twice — about the mystery of our history
inside her bones are ghosts from another lifetime,
memories of ‘Once upon a time’
when her fingertips were entwined with all of the sky
she’s another piece of the Universe,
another whole piece
her skin is coated in sunsets, nights and sunrises
with moonlit shadows on her face and Black onyx at the base of her spine
take a look at her now,
jagged puzzle piece of the everywhere and why she came to be
a wild flower adrift on a Summer daydream
heading for the edge of the fucking world
with the nectar — soul food that seduces the honey bee
with her mind and body in a mess
something like hope — still floats in between the havoc in her chest
she’s her own book of love and misadventure,
so absurd,
she longs to keep you hanging on her words
tears dry beneath a setting Sun
another fine day of bitter defeats
infuses with past sweet victories
she tastes life on the tip of her tongue
