we spoke in forgotten tongues
of love and light
of beautiful — terrible things
we chopped life with herbs and spice
we confessed to our misgivings
we exhaled our woes with distilled sighs
unpicked the wars from between our teeth
like songbirds — we stretched notes from our throats and sang of liberty through the smoke and mirrors
we reflected on our misadventures and pastimes paradise
we laughed together and of course…
