Member-only story
The morning yawns in unison with me,
as the night slowly, slowly retreats.
In my head,
we are right there — where the sky and Ocean meet.
I think to myself,
‘what is this dawn about to reveal to me?’
Your lips forge a smile that my eyes can’t believe,
I long to step inside love but can’t find my feet.
Although you know my heart is a broken record —
playing heartbreak on repeat,
your fingertips on my skin — compose modern symphonies
that build into high rises covered with post it notes
of this city love — you send me.
Gravity can’t hold me down,
I am space dust — full of tiny explosions for you now,
you make the chaos feel worth it somehow.
I am inside out,
running to you with my heart racing inside my mouth.
Oh no, this is that good trouble — love songs warn you about.
Foolish or not — I cast aside all doubt.
You look like forever,
you taste like adventure.
Now our hearts are tethered,
souls feel satisfied,
why should we resist — when it’s hopeless to try?
I close my eyes,
I note — you have woken sleeping butterflies.
What else can I do?
As the world begins to fade right out of view,
I breathe,
just breathe —
and take a chance on you.
