There Are Times

A poem

There are times when I forget that I’m
a bright moon with a dark side,
so wild — don’t hide.

There are times when I forget to breathe
and shadows start creeping over me,
won’t stay — won’t leave.

There are times when I can feel you near
then turn around and you disappear,
dry eyes — salt tears.

There are times my heart could love you still;
my mind says no so I never will,
again — no more.

There are times when I can’t find my words
a feeling comes and I let it burn,
sometimes — it hurts.

There are times when I forget summer sun
I spring forward and winter comes,
slow down — hold on.

There are times when there’s no gravity
I’m a space-girl and a galaxy,
above — beyond.

There are times I know I’ll be alright
and I’ll be old before I die,
my truth — can’t lie.
