This Old World

As the ocean “waves”, the Universe “peoples”. ’ — Alan Watts

The Universe still peoples and wonders at us.
Stardust to ashes — ashes to stardust.

This old world is weary but its rivers still flow.
It carries us here — it carries us home.

When oceans are waving — are hearts beating ‘hello’?
An ancient love language that nobody knows.

The songbirds still sing until freedom is free.
We sing our own songs we dream our own dreams.

The measure of us lies beyond Earth and time.
The soul is an archive — extension of sky.

The Universe still peoples and wonders at us.
Stardust to ashes — ashes to stardust.
