This Summer Love

the heat of the nights, hits differently with you by my side

hearts beating double time, your skin breathes against mine

said I wouldn’t fall, but I lied, now I don’t even care about my pride

we smoke and drink until the sunrise and another again until the moonlight

we get used to this summer vibe with natural and unnatural highs

we jump and wine along Soca rhythms and Afro waves each night

but we can’t stay another season, we search our eyes for all the reasons

before too long — we’ll both be leaving

uh oh

we’ll be on separate jet planes

flying so far away, hidden agendas now on display
we lived off the wall all summer, but it all ends the same

now we’re fully ripe for heartbreak

soon we’ll forget about us — and this hazy summer love

all the tender words that we say, unravel in the symphonies of our mixtape

the beat goes on as we fade away, who knows if this was even love anyway
