let’s fill our lungs

with all the breaths that were snatched away,

that never lived to see these days,

as we hold them in to exhale on better ones

here we are, we’ve only just begun

and who knows, where these dreams will lead us

if we block the paths of ones sent to deceive us,

we turn them back to their senders, those owners of hateful minds,

we let them know they’re not our kind, here — we make space for progress to thrive

cos’ we believe in a different kind of world, we let wisdom gift us pearls

we raise our glasses to ancestors, their blood was spilled to protect us

remember back in the day, being overworked and underpaid

we felt silenced and unseen, our tired bones tired of struggling

wherever we lay our heads tonight, we gather stamina for one more and another fight

for everything that we go through, I’m so grateful to be close to

ones that stand by me to the death, hand in hand til our last breaths

breathe with me, feel with me

if you believe in a different kind of world, then let wisdom gift us pearls

let’s fill our lungs with all the breaths, pour the love out of our chests

soon we will overcome, our eyes stay lit up by the Sun
