Walking in moonlight

Poetry

how do you desire less of what you naturally need?

when there’s hunger pains in your twisted guts — and no harvest to relieve

when water floods your lungs but you remain thirsty

when managed expectations feel like suffocating dreams

when worn out bloodied veins keep refusing to bleed

when loving leaves you loveless like a jealous thief

when the moonlight takes your breath away — and you forget how to breathe
