in the twilight
you are caught like a deer in the sharp glint in her eyes
it pierces your skin — slicing through to the abject fear in your gut
you sense your wicked game of half truths and whole lies is up
all your reckless handling of her soft heart
has left bloodstains on your fingertips
now her whispers roar
emphasising the silence
as the absence of peace in your mind
finds you most afraid of the impending dark
