Although not exactly the same, the stabbing in the eye thing — conjures up the scene in Tarantinos Kill Bill 2 — when Elle gets her one remaining eye snatched out by Beatrix Kiddo aka Black Mamba. There wasn’t much blood btw, the rationale for this particular method was shown as exacting revenge for Elle having just confessed to killing Beatrix Kiddos martial Arts master (the master was the one who snatched out Elles right eye for disobedience of some sort). Anyway, point being — if your rationale is clear for the stabbing in the eye, then as a reader — I would go along with it as a way to move the story forward rather than see it as sensationalism. #writeon 🌻
