You’re the one

you’re the one who always hurt me
how could you be so bright yet colder than the other side of the Moon
with all the jealousy that you caused me, made me wonder what you were trying to prove

you’re the one that never heard me
my primal screams would just bounce back off your closed ears
with all the heartache that you caused me, makes me wonder why I wasted my years

you’re the one who almost broke me
those empty promises had such wicked intentions
with all the shaming that you caused me, made me wonder about your brand of love and affection

you’re the one who never shielded me
when the world burned holes in my soul — you just turned your back
with all the loneliness you caused me, it’s no wonder that your name still tastes like ash
